Meera U. Sossamon




Meera has extensive experience in defending medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers in product liability actions, with a particular emphasis on complex and mass-consolidated litigation. Her practice extends to each phase of litigation: from inception and procedural structure of federal multi-district litigation; to successfully authoring pretrial dispositive motions; to case workup, including depositions of fact and expert witnesses; and ultimately preparing a case for trial. Meera has an undergraduate degree in neuroscience and worked as a research assistant measuring volatile organic compounds in the Environmental Health Sciences lab at the Tulane School of Public Health. Prior to starting at the firm, Meera clerked for the Honorable Ivan L.R. Lemelle, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

  • Elicited key Learned Intermediary testimony in depositions of treating physicians, resulting in summary judgment in favor of medical device manufacturers
  • Defended depositions of defense fact and expert witnesses in federal multi-district pharmaceutical products liability litigation
  • Defended fact witness depositions in federal multi-district medical device products liability litigation
  • Elicited key alternative cause and statute of limitations testimony in depositions of plaintiffs asserting product liability claims
  • Implemented complex removal strategy of products liability litigation from state court to federal court, based on diversity jurisdiction and fraudulent joinder
