Bio
Maria focuses her practice on a variety of civil litigation matters in state and federal courts, including mass-tort litigation, representing pharmaceutical and medical device clients, along with manufacturers of various products. She works on all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and trials.
Prior to joining the firm, Maria gained extensive experience representing noncitizens before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in a variety of immigration matters, including asylum, removal defense, consular processing, waivers, adjustment of status, and naturalization.
Maria graduated from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2022 with a Certificate in Immigration and Citizenship Law and Practice. While attending Loyola Law, Maria was a member of the Journal of Public Interest Law, serving as the Articles Editor on the 2021-2022 Executive Board. Her article, which examined the use of solitary confinement in immigration detention centers, was published in the Journal’s Spring 2022 issue and won “Best Overall Student Comment.” Maria was also a student practitioner in Loyola’s Immigration Legal Clinic and spent a summer clerking for the Pro Bono Project. She received the "Asterisk" award for the highest grade in Torts II.
In 2021, Maria was selected out of national pool of applicants for the Michael Maggio Immigrants' Rights Fellowship to work with Immigration Services and Legal Advocacy (ISLA), a non-profit organization based in New Orleans that provides pro bono representation for immigrants in detention and advocates for just and humane immigration policy.
Outside of the legal realm, Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Spanish from Tulane University. In college, she spent a semester abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she studied film and literature.
Maria is fluent in Spanish and English.
